The Spiritual Heart of Arunachala
Nestled at the foothills of the sacred Arunachala mountain, our ashram was established in 1975 by Sri Udaya Giri Swamy, a revered saint and spiritual master. For over four decades, we have served as a beacon of spiritual light, welcoming seekers from all walks of life.
The ashram provides a serene environment for meditation, self-inquiry, and spiritual growth. Our daily schedule includes meditation sessions, spiritual discourses, bhajans, and seva (selfless service) opportunities.
With its tranquil gardens, meditation halls, and library of spiritual texts, the ashram offers the perfect atmosphere for deepening your spiritual practice and discovering inner peace.
Our Spiritual Guide
Sri Udaya Giri Swamy
For an ordinary person to rise into an extraordinary force, the will of the Divine is essential. Such a great soul is Sri Arunachala Udayagiri Swamiji. Born into the Veeravalli lineage to Sri Devacharya and Smt. Mangayamma, Udaya Bhaskaracharya was devoted to God from his very childhood. In 2003, he accepted Lakshmi Devi as his devoted wife. They were blessed with two sons, Vikas and Pathiv.Although he achieved success as a civil contractor, a deep sense of emptiness always remained in his heart — a void that never allowed him true peace. A tragic vehicle accident transformed his life completely. He converted that pain into spiritual pursuit and constant remembrance of the Divine Name.
From 2011 until today, Swamiji has been blessed with hundreds of divine visions of Kashi Vishweshwara. Through these profound experiences, he immersed himself fully in spiritual austerities. By the grace of Sri Arunachaleshwara, Swamiji has performed over 250 Giri Pradakshinas in the last 14 years.
Following the divine command of the Mother Goddess, he established a spiritual seat (Peetha) at Gajuwaka and an ashram at Arunachala, dedicating his life to service of society. During a sacred 108-day Annadana Deeksha, he offered food daily to 108 people and received the divine grace of Shiva and Parvati.
In 2017, he undertook a pilgrimage to the Himalayan Adi Kailash, where he bathed and meditated in sub-zero temperatures, earning the blessings of Lord Parameshwara.
Today, millions of devotees across India and abroad worship Swamiji with deep devotion and love. The greatness of his spiritual power is evident. Such noble souls are guiding lights for our society. With the blessings of Lord Parameshwara, may Swamiji continue to perform many more acts of service for humanity — this is our collective prayer.
Annadanam (Free Food Service)
Nourishing Body and Soul
At Arunachala Ashram, we believe that serving food is serving God. Our Annadanam program provides nutritious, sattvic meals free of charge to all visitors, pilgrims, and local community members.
Prepared with devotion in our temple kitchen, the meals are strictly vegetarian, prepared according to Ayurvedic principles, and offered first to the deity before being served to devotees.
We serve over 500 meals daily, and the program is entirely supported by donations from devotees. Participating in Annadanam seva (service) is considered one of the highest forms of spiritual practice.
Timings: 12:00 PM - 2:00 PM and 7:00 PM - 8:30 PM daily
